Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “It is the failure of diplomacy that the negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict have continued within the OSCE Minsk Group over the last 20 years and the problem has not been solved yet,” President of the Swiss Council of States (upper chamber of the Swiss parliament) Filippo Lombardi, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, told journalists, APA reports.
Lombardi underlined that 2014 will be a very important year: “In 2014, Switzerland will take over OSCE chairmanship and Azerbaijan the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Therefore, it is important to expand relations between the two countries. Switzerland that will take over OSCE chairmanship next year is ready to do its best for the resolution of the protracted conflicts, including Nagorno Karabakh. Support for the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is of great importance, Switzerland is ready to do anything that depends on it," he said.
Lombardi said Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will visit Switzerland in October-November, be in Bern and Geneva. According to him, Swiss Foreign Minister also plans to visit Azerbaijan. The visit will be connected with Switzerland's chairmanship of OSCE.
