OSCE PA budget approved

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. During the Baku meeting of the OSCE PA Standing Committee, discussions were held on the organization’s budget.

APA reports that member of OSCE PA Roberto Battelli proposed to increase the budget by 1.1%.

According to him, its 25,000 euros are for election observation and 9,000 euros for administrative expenses. He said the allocated budget comes short.

President of OSCE PA Ranko KrivokapiÄ‡ said they will focus on increasing the budget.

Some parliamentarians stressed that there is an imbalance over the membership fee. Members of the French delegation emphasized that some countries pay 200,000 euros for membership like France, while others pay as little as 1000 euros.

Noting the membership fee is determined by governments, Robert Battelli said they can only offer recommendations to OSCE PA in this regard: “But I don’t believe a consensus will be achieved on this issue”.

During the meeting, OSCE PA’s budget envisaged for one year (September 2014-September 2015) was approved.
