Novruz Mammadov: We cannot accept interests of some circles of statesâ€

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu - APA. "We are independent for 23 years, choosing and continuing our own course and continue it. If each state prefers its own interests and demands these being realized, the world will face difficulties of today", said Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Director of the Administration's Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov while commenting on the U.S.-Azerbaijani relations, APA reports.

Mammadov said that processes taking place in the world today depend on the great states: “Azerbaijan have carried out effective cooperation with all vectors during the years of independence. One of these vectors is the US and Europe. Azerbaijan does not lag behind post-Soviet countries in political reforms, event leaves them behind. Azerbaijan has taken steps in on struggle against terrorism, energy cooperation and development of bilateral relations. We respect other countries’ interests and demand them same approach to us. We cannot accept interests of some circles of states. We are open for cooperation, but sometimes, great powers prefer “It should be what I say” approach”.

Mammadov noted that the great powers have not shared normal position regarding settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict so far: “They are satisfied with saying “we recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity”. However, they are ready to refuse recognizing territorial integrity in the certain times. 7 districts adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh have been under occupation for over 20 years. International organizations and US-based organizations do not say anything in t his regard. However, they claim violation of rights of a human in Azerbaijan and speak about it”.

Touching upon notes of Richard Kauzlarich, the former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mammadov said that they are meaningless: “You could share your position when you were an ambassador. Some in the West, as if, don’t think what will happen tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. They show marrying of two 35-40 years old men every day, but don’t pay attention to the some events in the world. The West has reached this level through people like Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Denis Diderot. Today, Europe has not such people. We have our dignity, pride, own way. Who values it, we respect them, if does not value, the regard for them is different”.
