MFA: Armenia, by not withdrawing its armed forces from Azerbaijanâ€™s occupied territories, escalates situation and increases threat and human causalities in region

Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the statement of Armenia’s Foreign Ministry issued on January 3, 2015.

Armenia, in flagrant breach of the norms and principles of international law and the UN Charter, has committed aggression against the Republic of Azerbaijan and occupied its territories, said spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev, APA reports.

“The continuation of occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories and presence of Armenian armed forces in the occupied territories can only pave the way for negative consequences. Armenia, by not withdrawing its occupying armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, escalates the situation and increases threat and human causalities in the region,” Hajiyev added.

Hajiyev added that Armenia, as an occupier and aggressor state, bears full responsibility for these actions.

Note that, on January 3, the Armenian Foreign Minister reported about the alleged “sabotage” of the Azerbaijani soldiers on the front-line.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry noted in a statement that Armenian media reports of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces allegedly committing sabotage on the front line and suffering losses are all lie and fabrication.

“Armenian soldiers, unequipped, left in harsh, unbearable conditions in cold trenches, with terror and dread in their hearts, Armenian leadership including, see an imaginary Azerbaijani ‘saboteur’ everywhere. Armenian armed groups are already used to blaming the Azerbaijani side each time after shooting one another as a result of infightings and disagreements among themselves,” the statement said.
