APA’s Europe bureau reports that head of the Azerbaijani delegation Samad Seyidov said the discussions regarding Azerbaijan were also held at the meeting. The list of head and members of PACE mission, which is going to observe the presidential elections in Azerbaijan in October, was confirmed.
Moreover, Samadov stated that the biased speech of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Azerbaijan at PACE and the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations were also discussed during the Bureau meeting:
“The speech made by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on the first working day of PACE plenary session especially drew our attention. Unfortunately, he made a speech not as chairman of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, but as Armenian Foreign Minister, this means the violation of the rules of the Council of Europe. The Azerbaijani side has already submitted a letter of protest to the Council of Europe. The members of the PACE Monitoring Committee also expressed their protest. Moreover, the issue was again mentioned at the meeting of the Bureau and it was reiterated that such an action should be prevented within the six-month chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers,” he said.
