He said the relevant figure will not increase this year.

The diplomat noted that in 2014, 3.5 million tons of oil was transported through the territory of Azerbaijan, basically by railway line, adding that after starting to exploit the Kashagan field in 2016, the volume of oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will increase. The ambassador emphasized the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, stressing that this line will contribute to increasing the volume of transportation.

A. Jumabayev said the number of flights between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan has increased over the last 1.5 year.

As for Kazakhstan’s membership of the Eurasian Union, the ambassador said it will have a positive effect on relations with other countries: “The country which has gained access to the Kazakh market will have access to the Russian and Belarusian markets, too”.

He said the agreement on the Eurasian Union would enter into force on 1 January 2015, stressing that it does not mean Kazakhstan will abandon its foreign policy: “Creation of this union will help us reach a new milestone in relations with other countries. It will also give new impetus to the economy”.

As regards political dialogue between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, the ambassador noted that the sides try to pay high level mutual visits every year. The diplomat said next year is Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev's turn to visit to Baku.
