APA reports that 27 volunteers from the US swore this year within the program. The volunteers will live with Azerbaijani families in 21 regions of the country, familiarize themselves with traditions of the Azerbaijani people and learn the Azerbaijani language.
Addressing the event, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar noted that the Peace Corps celebrate the 10th anniversary of its presence in Azerbaijan: “Peace Corps is one of the best programs implemented in Azerbaijan. Within this program, volunteers learn more about Azerbaijan. It is a good opportunity for the Azerbaijanis living in the region to learn about the Americans.”
The Peace Corps program was established the US government in 1961. Since then, more than 210,000 volunteers from the United States traveled to 139 countries around the world.
