Azerbaijani Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov has today received the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Pedro Agramunt Font de Mora and Joseph Debono Grech, the press service of the Ministry told APA.
The minister informed about the Ministry's activity and noted that operational and criminogenic situation is under the control.
He mentioned that special action plan was developed at the Ministry for the execution of the tasks arising from the orders signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
It was noted that with the view of increasing professionalism of the employees of law-enforcement agencies, nearly 1,500 employees have participated in the different trainings and seminars of the Council of Europe, OSCE and other international organizations during past 4 years.
At the same time, establishment and operation of 102 service and “Safe City” Automatic Control System serve the protection of human rights and freedoms. Moreover, Hot Line, e-mail address play important role in useful organization of public relations and solution of appeals.
Ramil Usubov said special attention is paid to the enhancement of the relations with mass media and public. With the view of creating conditions meeting international norms and standards, ensuring the rights of the detainees, since 2000 new temporary detention facilities have been constructed in 32 police offices in a number of cities and regions of the republic, 51 detention facilities have been repaired.
Minister said offices of the international organizations in Baku, Human Rights Commissioner's Office and other NGOs regularly monitor temporary detention facilities, necessary measures are taken to eliminate the shortcomings.
It was noted that special attention is paid to the gender equality in the law-enforcement bodies, 1935 women are working at financial, medical, personnel and other spheres, measures are taken against crimes related to domestic violence, corruption.
The co-rapporteurs expressed their gratitude to Ramil Usubov for warm welcome and detailed information about the work done for protection of human rights and freedoms.
A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, Interior Minister answered the questions of the guests.
