Baku – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today received the delegation led by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Evelyn N. Farkas.
The Foreign Ministry told APA that the US official highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s contribution to peacemaking operations of ISAF forces in Afghanistan.
Informing the guest about Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Mammadyarov stated that the beginning of the withdrawal of Armenian armed units from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan will create new opportunities for the settlement of the conflict. The minister stressed that the conflict poses a threat to the regional stability and security and said the resolution of the conflict meets the national interests of not only the countries of the region, but also of the neighboring countries.
