Guba. Veli Turan – APA. US ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar has visited Guba region today. APA’s northern bureau reports that the ambassador was welcomed by first deputy head of Guba region Executive Authority Yusif Abidov. Morningstar was informed about Guba region and offered to visit the memorial complex, the witness of the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis. The ambassador was informed about the massacres committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis.
The ambassador told journalists that 1918 events are painful for local residents and the entire Azerbaijan: “All events that led to the killing of innocent civilians are unacceptable and tragedy. Such events prove the importance of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which caused so much pain to the Azerbaijani people.”
Today, the ambassador will visit Krasnaya Sloboda populated by Mountain Jews and meet with representatives of NGOs.
