Georgian FM: “The international organizations should pay much attention to the uncontrolled areas”

She expressed her concern that the territory of Georgia can be used as a transit route for criminal groups. The minister noted the importance of using international mechanisms against this: “We understand the concerns of the international community in this regard. This is a pressing problem for us. We are taking measures to strengthen national security and intensifying our law-enforcement bodies, border service and anti-terrorist groups. The security is being tightened in border area and checkpoints.”

Panjikidze noted that Georgia is cooperating with the UN agencies in this issue: “Today, there are areas that are not controlled by states. These areas are safe labor for criminal groups. The international organizations should pay much attention to this.”
