French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner: “If “frozen” conflicts are not resolved immediately, the situation will worsen more”

Otherwise the situation in this field will worsen more”, said French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner at the OSCE Ministerial Council in Helsinki, APA correspondent reports. He said Abkhazian and South Ossetian conflicts was sharpened this year “Today we, on behalf of the European Union, condemn Russia’s recognition of separatist regime. We consider that Russia must actively participate in the negotiation process related to this problem”. Bernard Kouchner said significant progresses were reached in the process of settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs continued the negotiation process throughout a year and tried to hold dialogue on the basis of Madrid principles. Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents held very important meetings in June in St. Petersburg and then in Moscow. We have to underline the joint declaration signed by the presidents”. Bernard Kouchner touched upon the Transdniestrain conflict and said the negotiations over the settlement of this conflict should be continued within “5+2” format”.
