President Ilham Aliyev: â€œRealization of Nabucco project does not only depend on Azerbaijanâ€

Gas reserves of Azerbaijan came to mind while speaking about Nabucco projectâ€, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during an interview to Italian Rai International TV Channel. The Head of State added that main gas reserves had been put into operation recently and production was not at high level and it would be gained during the next 5-6 years.
â€œAzerbaijani gas is delivered to markets and we export gas to three countries and encirclement of consumers will be expanded. Realization of Nabucco project does not only depend on us. It depends on activity of Nabucco companies, transit issues, joining Central Asian sources and it is a big project. Azerbaijan is ready to play a role of potential supplier if there is need for transit country. I want to say that it is not only our projectâ€, he said.
The President speaking about own projects of Azerbaijan said that Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline were ready and Azerbaijani oil and gas were transported in various directions.
The Head of State took stance on purchase of Azerbaijani gas by Russian Gazprom Company.
â€œWe have received various proposals. We have received proposals from Russian Gazprom Company as well and we are considering these proposals at present. We take same position on all proposals. This is absolutely business matter. We carry out our energy projects in terms of commerce, ramification, security and long-term partnership. Of course, the price should coincide with market prices. Azerbaijani economy is a 100-percent market economy. Moreover, Azerbaijan can produce enough gas to export it via various directions in nearest future,â€ he said.
