Proposals on Eastern Partnership initiative to be submitted to European Commission

Brussels. Viktoriya Dementyeva – APA. The proposals of the European Union on Eastern Partnership initiative will be submitted to the European Commission on December 3, Marcus Cornaro, Director of Directorate “Europe, Southern Mediterranean, Middle-East and Neighbourhood Policy” told APA’s correspondent sent to Brussels. He said that the proposals mainly covered strengthening of energy security, simplification of visa regime and trade-related issues. The final decision will be made at the meeting of the ministers in March, 2009. Cornaro also said he would visit Baku in January, 2009.

Poland and Sweden initiated the establishment of Eastern Partnership organization with participation of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. On June 20 heads of 27 EU member states supported the initiative.
