Ambassador Boris Kilmchuk: The interests of Ukraine and Azerbaijan coincide

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. Ukraineâ€™s ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk held a press conference, APA reports. Speaking about the current state of Ukraine-Azerbaijan relations the diplomat said President Viktor Yushchenko appreciated the relations and added that the bilateral relations were improving. Boris Klimchuk underlined that the interests of Ukraine and Azerbaijan coincided and said the task put forth by the presidents â€“ to increase trade turnover by $1 billion will be fulfilled by the year-end.
â€œAccording to the indicators of eight months this figure made up $705 million,â€ he said.
The ambassador said 100,000 tones of wheat would be brought to Azerbaijan from Ukraine soon. Boris Klimchuk said flights between Baku and Kiev operated five days a week and it was planned to operate flights every day.

Touching on the outcomes of the Energy Summit held in Baku, Boris Klimchuk said unlike the previous three summits, the final Declaration of the summit had been signed by the European Commission. He said it was planned to hold the next summit in Tbilisi either late in spring or early in summer. Asked about the project on the construction of the plant for refining Azerbaijanâ€™s oil in Ukraine the ambassador said several variants were being worked out.
â€œThis project may be connected with Odessa-Brodi oil pipeline, or not,â€ he said.
Boris Klimchuk said Ukrainian-made 170 big buses had been brought to Baku and added that 100 more buses would be brought by the year-end.

Touching on the humanitarian relations, the diplomat said Nizami Gandjaviâ€™s works would be published in the Ukrainian and Azeri languages. He gratefully underlined that the book â€œThe smell of thyme in Kolymaâ€ by Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus had been published with support of Ukrainian Azerbaijanisâ€™ Congress.
