US Assistant Secretary of State David Kramer starts his visit to Azerbaijan

The visit continues a series of dialogues initiated by President Ilham Aliyev and the United States, public relations department of the US embassy in Baku told APA. Kramer will discuss a broad range of issues with senior government, political and civil society representatives during a November 18-19 visit to Azerbaijan. He will focus on the full scope of democracy and human rights issues, including media freedom, religious freedom and freedom of assembly.

Assistant Secretary Kramer last visited Baku in June, 2008.

Mr. Kramer became Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor last March. Prior to that time, he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, responsible for Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus affairs.
