Elmar Mammadyarov: â€œAzerbaijan is always ready to contribute to ensuring peace and security in the worldâ€

The sides underlined the improvement of the bilateral cooperation and existence of broad opportunities for the cooperation in military sphere and noted the necessity of increasing direct contacts.

U.S. General highly appreciated the role of Azerbaijani peacekeeping contingents in ensuring stability in Afghanistan and Iraq and expressed his satisfaction with the US cooperation with our country in this field.

Elmar Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan was always ready to contribute to ensuring peace and security in the world and spoke about Azerbaijani peacekeeping contingentâ€™s role in maintaining public order in Iraq and Afghanistan. He particularly noted Azerbaijanâ€™s activity in Afghanistan and said the country implemented projects for the reconstruction of civil infrastructure, construction of schools and hospitals in Afghanistan.

Giving information about Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the Minister said the conflict posed great threat to the region.
