IEA official says European countries give significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan

Baku. Lachin Sultanova –APA. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov has met with the delegation of International Energy Agency (IEA) headed by IEA Deputy Executive Director Richard Johns. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA Johns underlined the importance of diversification of the energy vectors for the global energy security and emphasized the Azerbaijan’s role in this direction. He said the European countries gave a significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Johns said he aimed to attend the conference dedicated to the oil and gas potential of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as to discuss cooperation between IEA and Azerbaijan.

In his turn, Elmar Mammadyarov spoke about the strategic, security and economic importance of the projects carried out in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas sector, including Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum gas pipelines, for our country and said Azerbaijan was interested in cooperation with the International Energy Agency.
