Russian Deputy Foreign Minister: “Today, Russia is under the influence of the Eurovision-2012” - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. A ceremony on 28 May – the Republic Day of Azerbaijan was held in Moscow. APA reports that the Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Russia organized the event which was held in Europe Palace of the Russian capital city. More than a thousand guests – ambassadors of 40 countries to Moscow, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin, high-ranking persons of the Russian Presidential Administration, deputies of the State Duma, university rectors and members of Russian public community participated in the event.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu delivered keynote speech at the event, greeted the guests and expressed his gratitude to the guests for accepting the invitation. Speaking about the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the ambassador said that it was the first democratic republic in the Islamic East. The diplomat informed the guests in detail about the history of Azerbaijan’s independence, its development as a sovereign state, its position in the region and continuously increasing international influence.

Polad Bulbuloghlu recalled that the Eurovision song contest was organized at the high level in Baku. The ambassador noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 28 May– Republic Day and underlined the high-level of Azerbaijan-Russia relations.

Then Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin made a speech and congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on Republic Day. The deputy minister spoke about the Azerbaijan-Russia friendly relations: “The national holiday of friendly Azerbaijan has already become a traditional event in Russia. Today, Russia is under the influence of the Eurovision-2012. Azerbaijan has organized great festival for Europe and once again demonstrated its brilliant ability to the world. This contest will be memorable for Russians with the successful performance of Buranovskiye Babushki.”

Karasin said Azerbaijan and Russia had centuries-old ties of friendship: “Today, the strategic relation between our countries is in the high level. Trade turnover between the two countries exceeded USD 3 billion. We are always happy the success of fraternal Azerbaijan.”

Then Polad Bulbuloghlu said that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev awarded the members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Russia with honorable titles. Vice-president of the International Bar Association Alasgar Taghiyev was awarded with the title of Honored Lawyer, professor Yevgeny Gertman - Honored Scientist, director of the Azerbaijani Culture Centre at the school â„– 157 Gorkhmaz Akhundov and actor of Taganka Theatre, Russian honored artist Teymur Badalbayli - Honored Artist.
