Azerbaijanâ€™s Republic Day marked in Tehran

Iranian officials, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Tehran, as well as members of public community attended the ceremony, AzerTAc reports.

Participants of the ceremony laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev at the embassy. After playing the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Iran, a documentary showing history, culture and modern development of Azerbaijan was screened.

In his welcoming speech, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Javanshir Akhundov spoke about the foundation and development of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He said before the collapse of former USSR, Azerbaijan faced groundless claims of Armenian nationalists and difficult tasks. Heydar Aliyevâ€™s salvatory mission, strong will and great experience in state administration protected Azerbaijan from life-threatening.

Heydar Aliyevâ€™s far-seeing strategy led Azerbaijan to the bright future. This policy was successfully developed by President Ilham Aliyev and ensured the comprehensive and systematic development of the country. Today Azerbaijan strengthened its position in the world, increased its power and improved the welfare of population. Azerbaijan is loyal to the policy of friendly neighborhood and sincere friendship inherited from Heydar Aliyev.

Following the official part of the ceremony the group of ashugs Dede Gorgud gave a concert. The song â€œAzerbaijanâ€ performed by them won warm applauses by the viewers.
