Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Iran must apologize from Azerbaijan

Abdullayev said that Iran shouldnâ€™t permit the holding of actions outside Azerbaijanâ€™s consulate in Tabriz.

He clarified the reports on summoning of Azerbaijanâ€™s ambassador in this country to Iranâ€™s Foreign Ministry and presenting a note to him.

Abdullayev said that though Azerbaijani ambassador was invited to Iranian Foreign Ministry, no note was given to him.

Press service of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan released the full text of statement of Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on recent tension in Iran-Azerbaijan relations. The statement says: â€œThe Republic of Azerbaijan is our neighbor, the second Shia country in the world and we have repeatedly announced that it must observe some issues that align with interests of both countries and peoples.

We make maximum efforts for removal of recent problems. We hope that Azerbaijani government will react to the last and unpleasant act outside the Iranian embassy, condemn it and will not permit the reiteration of such incidents.

Iranian foreign minister adds: â€œThe necessary political steps must be taken in the field of bilateral relations. As the issues arising from the religious principles are very delicate, everybody must be attentive in these efforts, otherwise no country intends to intervene in internal affairs of another countryâ€.
