Swedish ambassador to Azerbaijan: â€œLoreenâ€™s meeting with opposition and human rights defenders is her own choiceâ€

Eriksson told APA that he really organized a reception on May 22: â€œThe representatives of the government, civil society, mass media and opposition were invited to the reception. Such receptions are normal practice and there is nothing strange. Swedish Eurovision-2012 representative Loreen participated in that receptionâ€.

The ambassador said that this issue was discussed at the meeting in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry yesterday: â€œI assured the ministryâ€™s employees that this information was incorrectâ€.

Responding to question about Loreenâ€™s meeting with the oppositionists, local human rights defenders, interview and statements on the situation of human rights and democracy in Azerbaijan, the ambassador said that he was aware of such meetings of the singer: â€œBut this is her own choice. I didnâ€™t participate and didnâ€™t initiate this meetingâ€.
