Swedish Eurovision-2012 representative turns down proposal of her countryâ€™s ambassador to Azerbaijan

The source told APA that the meeting hadnâ€™t have only an acquaintance character. The ambassador asked Loreen to sound the political statements and make calls concerning Azerbaijan during her performance at Eurovision stage, but the singer turned down the suggestion saying that Eurovision is a cultural event and didnâ€™t want to be a tool in the political processes.

According to information, Public Chamberâ€™s representatives Isa Gambar and Ali Karimli also participated in the meeting. The source said that â€œthe main reason of the ambassadorâ€™s inviting the oppositionists was to give a chance to Loreen to hear realities from the localsâ€.

But the meeting ended with an open text of the signer that she wouldnâ€™t intervene in politics.

Some international and local organizations, as well as leaders of opposition parties made statements on the eve of Eurovision-2012 Song Contest that they would call the contestâ€™s singers to make political statements and support the democracy in Azerbaijan.
