Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev commented on recent rallies held in front of Azerbaijani consulate general in Tabriz and said that Azerbaijan considered such expressions and outrages unacceptable: “Azerbaijan will give an adequate response to it. Azerbaijan is an independent country and intervention in its internal affairs is unacceptableâ€.
Abdullayev said that there was no information on two Azerbaijani poets imprisoned in Iran: “Iran said that it will inform about their destiny till the end of the week. But there is no newsâ€.
Azerbaijani citizens Shahriyar del Gerani and Farid Huseyn were arrested in Tabriz on May 2. The young poets visited Tabriz to participate in the poetry symposium.
