Istanbul hosts 2nd World Political Forum

Istanbul. Mayis Alizadeh – APA. The 2nd World Political Forum is held in Istanbul Congress Center. APA’s correspondent reports that the representatives of Libyan and Egyptian popular movements delivered speeches at the opening of the meeting which focuses on global processes.

The forum will continue with panels of different topics.

Azerbaijan is represented in the forum by the head of the political analysis and information department of the Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev, chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board, Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh and Azercell-Telekom CEO Ali Agan.

Elnur Aslanov will attend the discussions on “Prospects of economic cooperation in the Black Sea region and the competition for supremacy in the Caucasus”, Rovnag Abdullayev will participate in the debates on “Importance of Russia in EU’s energy supply? North and South Stream, impacts of Black Sea security on global energy security”, Sheikh-ul-Islam will attend the discussions “Religion as a uniting factor”.

Deputy Chairman of organizing Committee of the meeting Omer Ozkaya told APA that this forum is compared with the Davos World Economic Forum: “The Davos Forum has been held for 42 years. But we are in the beginning of the work. Istanbul is step-by-step approaching to become financial and congress center of the world. I hope that we will be able to compete with Davos Forum in the next few years”.
