PACE co-rapporteurs meet leaders of parliamentary factions

Baku. Parvin Abbasov – APA. Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee Pedro Agramunt Font de Mora and Joseph Debono Grech and Monitoring Committee’s Deputy Secretary Agnieszka Nachilo met the leaders of parliamentary factions in Azerbaijan.

Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Mubariz Gurbanli said in his welcoming speech that Azerbaijan attached special importance to the relations with the international organizations, including PACE. He said 11 political parties were represented in the Azerbaijani Parliament. He introduced the party leaders to the guests. Chairman of Umid (Hope) Party Igbal Aghazadeh shared his ideas about some political issues and laws. He said the parliament needed to revise the law on political parties and to adopt defamation law as well.

Chairman of Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party Fazail Aghamali, chairman of Social Welfare Party Khanhuseyn Kazimli, chairman of Justice Party Ilyas Ismayilov, chairman of Great System party Fazil Mustafa, chairman of All Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of National Revival Movement Party Faraj Guliyev also delivered speeches at the meeting.

The party leaders emphasized that all political parties of Azerbaijan have same position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and there is no any discord between the government and opposition in this issue.

Then the politicians answered the co-rapporteurs’ questions.
