French Senate Deputy Chairman considers draft law criminalizing denial of made-up â€œArmenian genocideâ€ inappropriate and unnecessary

In his letter, Carle said that he considered the French Senateâ€™s draft law against negativists of made-up â€œArmenian genocideâ€ inappropriate and unnecessary: â€œI consider the draft law criminalizing the denial of genocides recognized by law inappropriate and unnecessary because of three reasons. First, French Parliament canâ€™t deal with the evaluation of the history: it is a deal of commission of historians and I consider that it would be appropriate to create the international group of historians. Secondly, our current legislation and constitutional basis gives an opportunity to punish the negationists. At last urgent issues of the French parliament is not an adoption of memory laws. â€

Carle said that he hadnâ€™t participated in voting on the draft law.

Members of YAP Youth Union sent appeals to the French Senate and every senator after the National Assemblyâ€™s adoption of draft law criminalizing denial of made up â€œArmenian genocideâ€. The purpose of this appeal is to protest the French National Assemblyâ€™s adoption of draft law criminalizing the denial of made up â€œArmenian genocideâ€ and to call the French Senate not to repeat mistake and injustice of the parliamentâ€™s lower chamber.
