“We want at the anniversary of Khojaly genocide to be said “we are all Azerbaijanis†and to march over Istanbul streetsâ€, Vusala Mahirgizi
Director General of APA spoke about protests in Azerbaijan on the bill ratified by French Senate criminalizing denial of so-called “genocideâ€. She noted that rising protest voice of Turkish world over this issue is normal. “We, as Azerbaijan and Turkey should work against ratification of this bill at the Constitution Court of France, our diaspora organizations should show more protest efforts. But, for my personal point of view, rejection of this bill at the Constitution Court seems not so real.â€
V. Mahirgizi noted that ratification of the bill put shadow on the role of France as OSCE Minsk Group co-chair and showed its biased position. “Even rejection of the bill by the French Constitution Court should not be base to stop struggle. As, after several years the 100th anniversary of the so called “genocide†will come. Then we will face much more such unfair issues. Therefore from now, it is important to struggle together and we should demonstrate to other countries if they accept such a bill they will face united Turkish nations.
V. Mahirgizi stated that at her article “Will we say, we are all Azerbaijanis?†she proposed to demonstrate all the world that a genocide happened in Khojaly and to march at Istanbul streets at the 20 the anniversary of the massacre. “I am sure authorities of the both countries, NGOs will do their best to realize this march. Through my article I wanted to convey savagery committed 20 years ago to those, who blame Turks with so-called genocide claims. Within several hours one city was destroyed, up to 2 5000 civilians were killed, injured, taken hostage, 8 families were killed at all. All these are realities based on documents, facts and witnesses. Armenians and their supporters cannot escape from this. These are our, Turks’ realties. We want on the anniversary of Khojaly Genocide to march at the Istanbul streets under slogan of “We are all Azerbaijanisâ€, “We are all from Khojali†and to convey Turkish realities to the world. We should show that we know what is genocide. We want to march on February 26, at the streets of Istanbul, with photos of the killed children, with picture of the 8-month baby torn off from mother’s body.â€
