APA reports quoting Turkey’s Anatolian news agency that the commission has discussed today the draft law adopted in the National Assembly. The Commission decided that this draft law was unacceptable. 29 senators voted for this decision, 9 senators voted against it, 8 senators abstained from voting.
This proposal will be discussed at the general meeting of the Senate on January 23. If the Senate adopts the proposal, the draft law on criminalization of denial of “Armenian genocide†will be excluded from the agenda and will not be put to vote.
The draft law with the same content, which was proposed by socialist senator, was excluded from the agenda without discussing on May 4, 2011.
