According to APA, Rubin said he visited Azerbaijan by the instruction of US President and Secretary of State. He congratulated President Aliyev on the Azerbaijan’s election to the UN Security Council and victory in the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest. Rubin said he was hopeful for further extension of Azerbaijan-US relations on the current basis.
Azerbaijani President emphasized that last year was a significant year for Azerbaijan. He underlined the importance of the celebration of 20 years of Azerbaijan’s independence in 2011. President Aliyev said he hoped that good achievements would be reached toward the extension of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States. The Head of State thanked the US President and Secretary of State for their attention to the development of relations between the two countries.
The issues of the development of Azerbaijan-US cooperation in 2012 were discussed at the meeting.
