Iranian students issue anti-Azerbaijan statement

Baku. Konul Jafarli – APA. “Basij” fraternity of Tehran University and Masumiyya school of Qom city issued statement on Azerbaijan, APA reports quoting ISNA news agency. The statement reads that 92% of Azerbaijan’s population is Muslims, but the government pursues anti-religion policy by closing the mosques and arresting Islamic scientists and leaders: “Azerbaijani government must draw a lesson from the history, and look at Iran’s history from 1963 till Islamic revolution in 1979. Look, what was the destiny of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Hosni Mubarak, Ben Ali, Abdulla Salih and the others?”

The statement also demanded the Iranian Foreign Ministry to strengthen diplomatic measures for protecting the rights of Azerbaijani Muslims and achieve the discharge of imprisoned Islamists.
