Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. US Ambassador Matthew Bryza, whose diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan ended, left the country on January 3, spokesperson for the US embassy in Baku Keith Bean told APA.

The US Senate didnâ€™t approve Mr. Bryza as the ambassador to Azerbaijan. Bryza said at the press conference in Baku on December 29 that if his candidacy was not put to vote at the Senate, he would have to leave Azerbaijan until January 3.

Adam Sterling will hold office of the US Charge dâ€™Affaires in Azerbaijan until the appointment of the new ambassador.
