Azerbaijan takes office as non-permanent member of UN Security Council

APA reports that Azerbaijan was elected as the non-permanent member to the UN Security Council for two-year term. Five new members were elected to the UN Security Council on October 21 this year. Guatemala, Morocco, Pakistan and Togo were elected as the non-permanent members to the organization in the voting held on October 21. Azerbaijan gathered 155 votes and was elected to the UN Security Council for two years in the voting held on October 24. Azerbaijan will replace Bosnia and Herzegovina, the term of tenure of which expires on December 31, 2011.
