Palestinian embassy opened in Azerbaijan

Baku â€“ APA. The State of Palestine officially opened its embassy in Baku on June 29. According to APA, President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, who was on official visit to Azerbaijan, attended the opening ceremony. The head of Palestinian state cut a ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the embassy.

Mahmoud Abbas met with the embassy staff. The guest of honor was informed that the diplomatic mission has five administrative and several assisting rooms. It has seven staff members, who were provided with necessary working conditions.

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Elchin Efendiyev said opening the Palestinian embassy in Azerbaijan would create opportunities to develop friendly relations and cooperation between the peoples. Efendiyev emphasized that the current phase of the interstate relations creates necessary opportunities for the development of bilateral relations. â€œAzerbaijan and Palestine have high-level political relations. The new opportunities are created for the countries to establish cooperation in many spheres in the futureâ€.

Mahmoud Abbas thanked the government of Azerbaijan for allocation of the building for the embassy. He said just this factor is another one index of the development of current relations between the countries.

Expressing satisfaction with his first visit to Azerbaijan, the Palestinian President highly appreciates the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people. Speaking about the ancient historic relations between the peoples, Mahmoud Abbas noted that there are new cooperation opportunities in many fields between Azerbaijan and Palestine. He underlined the importance of the development of socio-economic cooperation in the future.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas finished his official visit to Azerbaijan on June 29. The Palestinian leader was seen off at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Elchin Efendiyev and other government officials.
