The price of AI-95 gasoline in Russia has increased by 24% since the beginning of July, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

The price of AI-92 gasoline has risen by 20% to 70.5 rubles per liter, AI-95 by 24% to 77.5 rubles per liter, AI-98 by 32% to 119.5 rubles per liter, and AI-100 by 13% to 94.5 rubles per liter.

Diesel fuel prices have also increased by 11%, reaching 88 rubles per liter.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, amid rising prices, consumers are increasingly opting for cheaper fuel grades. Purchases of AI-92 gasoline have increased by 10%, while sales of AI-95 and AI-98 have declined by 13% and 18%, respectively. Meanwhile, demand for diesel fuel has grown by 28%, demand for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has increased by 17%, and AI-100 has become the fastest-growing fuel grade, with purchases up 37%.

Experts say no price decline is expected in the near future. In their view, the increase is driven not only by the current fuel shortage but also by the annual indexation of excise taxes and the impact of indirect taxes. They believe that even after demand eases, fuel prices are unlikely to fall significantly.

Note that Russia has been facing a fuel shortage following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has also acknowledged the fuel shortage, linking it to the attacks on the country's oil refining facilities.
