Ronnie Faircloth: â€œThe commissioning of new laboratories will increase Azerbaijanâ€™s defense ability from various contagious and infectious diseasesâ€

Today Faircloth together with the officials of Azerbaijan State Border Service visited Turkan settlement owing to the end of joint program on detection, prevention and prohibition of illicit nuclear and radioactive materials. The Program has been carried out since 2004 and the American experts arrived in Azerbaijan to hand over this program to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan. Faircloth said that the joint struggle against proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is not only important for the United States and Azerbaijan, but entire world.

â€œThe commissioning of new laboratories will increase Azerbaijanâ€™s defense ability from various contagious and infectious diseasesâ€, said the Executive Director of the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Recently two high-technology laboratories, funded by the US and which conduct the monitoring of animal diseases, opened in Imishli and Sabirabad regions. More than $1 mln were spent for the laboratoriesâ€™ construction. Faircloth noted that the new labs will give opportunity to struggle against dangerous viruses in Azerbaijan.
