Spokesman for the ministry Elkhan Polukhov told APA the ministry didn’t give accreditation consent to Markosyan to arrive in Azerbaijan.

Polukhov said two weeks ago Bloomberg agency addressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning its economic reporting on Azerbaijan. The ministry positively responded this address. “Two weeks ago the agency sent a letter of response informing that US-Russian citizen of Armenian national Diana Markosyan will accompany the correspondent as a photographer during the visit to Baku. Bloomberg management was informed that Azerbaijan is at war with Armenia. 20 percent of the Azerbaijani territories were occupied by Armenia, about one million Azerbaijani people turned into refugees and internally displaced persons. For this reason, there will be problems to provide security for Armenian Diana Markosyan. We ask the agency to send another photographer instead of Markosyan”.

Spokesman for the ministry said despite that Mrkosyan arrived in Baku last night and was detained by the State Border Service at the airport.

Markosyan arrived in Baku at night from June 27 to 28, but she was not allowed to start out for the city. She will be deported for Istanbul today.
