Karabakh Summit ended: no agreement reached

On Friday the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan Dmitry Medvedev, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev discussed in Kazan the basic principles of the Karabakh conflict settlement.

”The heads of the states noted the achievement of mutual understanding on a number of issues that contribute to creating the conditions for approval of the basic principles”, - it’s said in the statement.

The document says that the meeting participants reviewed the work carried out in order to alignment the draft of the basic principles.

The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan expressed their appreciation to the leaders of Russia, the USA and France that are co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group, “for their constant attention to the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”. They appreciated the personal efforts of the Russian president for promotion the agreements, it’s said in the joint statement.

The Kazan summit – it is ninth trilateral summit since 2008 and the second since the beginning of this year. The previous summit was held in Sochi on 5 March.
