He said that within the framework of Azerbaijan-US security dialogue they also discussed the issues on missile defense.
“We are holding negotiations with Russia on the similar theme. In the present stage we are holding discussions on the missile defense, in future we may hold discussions on Gabala radar,†he said.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov said Gabala radar is very important in terms of its position and Russia’s security.
“Moreover, Russia and US are holding negotiations on missile defense. Mr. Shapiro has informed us about it. We will continue negotiations,†he said.
The term of the contract between Azerbaijan and Russia on the lease of Gabala radar will expire next year.
