US Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro: We would like to continue strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan

Baku. Viktoria Dementyeva â€“ APA. The 12th meeting on the security dialogue between Azerbaijan and the US was held in Baku, APA reports. Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov headed the Azerbaijani delegation, Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew Shapiro headed the US delegation. Following the meeting, Araz Azimov told journalists that regional security, struggle against terrorism were discussed within the framework of security issues between the US and Azerbaijan. The sides also talked about the joint security programs. The next meeting will be held in Washington in 2012.

Andrew Shapiro said his country has very good cooperation with Azerbaijan.
â€œThere is a great potential for cooperation between the two countries. The US is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in energy security, internal reforms, infrastructure of the Caspian Sea. We would like to continue strengthening the cooperation with Azerbaijan,â€ he said.
