Turkish leading political parties comment on parliamentary election results

Istanbul. Mayis Alizadeh â€“ APA. â€œThis is Turkish nation, who won the elections. Our nation and democracy became winners of these elections. The oppressed people, who rely on us, won these electionsâ€, Nevzat Pakdil, vice speaker of the Turkish parliament, MP from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) elected from Kahramanmarash, told APA commenting on the results of June 12 parliamentary elections. Pakdil said the results of the elections evoked wide response over the world. â€œThere is only political party in Turkey, which comes to power for the third time after late Adnan Menderes. Both electorates voted for us, which increased our rating and led us to the victory. I believe this election will enhance stability in Turkey and lead the country to more economic, political and legal achievements. We thank our nation that gives us such opportunityâ€.

â€œWe have to respect the results of democratic elections. CHP increased the number of its seats at the parliament, but we expected more mandates. This result will encourage the CHPâ€™s leader to reach more successful achievementsâ€, former Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan and member of the Turkish parliament from the Republican People Party (CHP) Faruk Logoglu elected from Adana told APA commenting on June 12 parliamentary elections. Reminding about the societyâ€™s expectations for a new Constitution, Logoglu said it would be important what methods were used in writing this Constitution. â€œIt will be better if honorable Prime Minister learns opinions of the political parties and non-governmental organizations. CHP is a party based on the democracy, supremacy of law, human rights, which gives an importance to the extension of freedoms and division of power. If the ruling party acts so, there will be no problems. But I donâ€™t think that it will be so. There is a question about the presidential government. Earlier Prime Minister said that he was the head of government of all people, including those, who donâ€™t vote for him, but we saw that it wasnâ€™t so. If they act by the parliamentary majorityâ€™s wish this time too, everything will be difficult. First three articles of the Constitution â€“ articles concerning the republican principles can not be changed. Therefore we need in concrete Constitution that focuses attention on the division of powerâ€.

MP from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Togrul Turkesh elected from Ankara also said that they targeted more mandates at the parliament. â€œBut MHP was severely attacked. All of blackmails against us, including making game of the MHP leaderâ€™s speeches, were a part of same plan.
The realization of the plan had started before the elections. Since the referendum conducted on September 12 last year, it was propagated that MHP would not cross the minimal barrier. But our supporters acted resolutely and managed to win seats in the parliament. Under normal conditions, MHP would have won more seats,â€ he said.

Touching on the pro-government media reports that the first three articles of the Turkish Constitution can be amended, Turkesh said it can not be discussed.
â€œWe would not accept it, because there is no need to amend the first three articles of the Constitution. When we asked those who brought it to the agenda earlier they failed to give a satisfactory answer. Constitutional amendment is not something verbal. On the other hand, these articles are basic elements keeping the country united within the 90 years of Turkish Republic. Therefore, we are against of their amendment. MHPâ€™s political position has always been clear. Our position can not be changed easily,â€ he said.

Parliamentarian from MHP, journalist, writer Oktay Ekshi, who will open the first meeting of the Turkish parliament as he is the oldest member, also said they expected to win more seats.
â€œBut our dear people voted for the continuation of this government for four more years. We respect the will of our people,â€ he said.
