Grigol Vashadze: â€œGeorgia and Azerbaijan are strategic partners: there are no any problems in our relationsâ€

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzade â€“ APA. â€œGeorgia and Azerbaijan are strategic partners: there are no any problems in our relationsâ€, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.

Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze made this statement today at the press conference after the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov, who is on the official visit to Georgia.

â€œOur relationships are moving upward to the new stage. Carrying out our presidentsâ€™ order, we strive to deepen the relations between two countries in political, economic areas and at the same time approach our people,â€ â€“ the Georgian minister said.

At the press conference Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov stressed that two FMs meet every six months and after each meeting the discussed issues are in gradual decrease: â€œAt the present meeting we have also discussed the issues of concern and we tried to determine the new ways. I think, weâ€™ll further extend our relations.â€

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov, who is on the official visit to Georgia, will participate tomorrow morning in a series of events. In the morning hours Azerbaijani and Georgian FMs will put a wreath on the monument of the soldiers perished for Georgia’s independence, and then they will visit Heydar Aliyevâ€™s monument in Tbilisi. After this Elmar Mammadyarov will visit Marneuli city, densely populated by Azerbaijanis, meet with our compatriots, and get acquainted with their problems.
Elmar Mammadyarovâ€™s meeting with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili is expected on the evening of June 14.
