Ambassador: â€œThe US is ready to help Azerbaijan in the protection of energy infrastructure in the Caspian Seaâ€

The US is ready to share its experience with Azerbaijan with the view of protecting energy infrastructure in the Caspian Sea, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told journalists, APA reports. He noted that they were at the beginning of the new stage in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of security: â€œThe US is ready to help Azerbaijan in the protection of energy infrastructure in the Caspian Sea. We have experience in this sphere and are ready to share this experience with Azerbaijanâ€.

Asked how the US will support Azerbaijan in ensuring the security of Trans Caspian gas pipeline taking into account that Russia and Iran do not support the oil pipeline, the ambassador noted that it was a hypothetical question: â€œAs Richard Morningstar said, it depends only on Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan where and how they will export their energy resources. We respect the independence and decisions of these countries. We think that this project will take into consideration all details concerning the protection of environmentâ€.

Answering the question about the expected dialogue on security between Azerbaijan and US Matthew Bryza stressed that the date of meeting had not been fixed, yet: â€œThis meeting will be a positive stage in our cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of securityâ€.
