US embassy: We expect NDI activities to resume in Azerbaijan

NDI submitted additional registration documentation to the Ministry of Justice on May 5, and looks forward to working with the Government of Azerbaijan to complete the registration process as soon as possible in compliance with recently adopted regulationsâ€, the US embassy in Azerbaijan told APA.
â€œNDI is a respected partner of the U.S. Government working to strengthen democratic institutions worldwideâ€, said the embassy. â€œIn Azerbaijan, NDI has long provided training and support to emerging civic leaders and transparent elections. NDI activities are funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development under a bilateral agreement between the United States and Azerbaijan, and we expect those activities to resume shortly after the Government of Azerbaijan registers NDI as an approved non-governmental organization.â€
