President of European Parliament: We recognize Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity

Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. â€œI will hold discussions in Azerbaijan concerning the resolution adopted at the European Parliament on May 12,â€ President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek said at the briefing after the meeting with the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov, APA reports.

He said the European Parliament recognizes Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity within the framework of its internationally recognized borders.
â€œWe demand from Azerbaijan nothing but the implementation of the commitments. We respect Azerbaijanâ€™s sovereignty. But the reaction of the Azerbaijani authorities to the demonstration held on April 2 runs counter to the international documents,â€ he said.

Jerzy Buzek noted that there is a good period for the development of the cooperation between the European Parliament and Azerbaijani parliament, the interparliamentary cooperation can be improved.

He stated that the European Parliament is ready to contribute to the solution of the â€œfrozen conflictsâ€ in the region. He also underlined that they attach great importance to such issues as media, human rights.
â€œAzerbaijan and Europe share common values. We also support cooperation in the field of economy, trade and energy. We recognize Azerbaijanâ€™s independence, territorial integrity within the framework of its internationally recognized borders, respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity,â€ he said.
