Azerbaijani capital hosts conference on topic â€œEastern Partnership after 2 years â€“ achievements and challengesâ€

APA reports that in his keynote speech Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia spoke about â€œEastern Partnershipâ€ program and its purposes. The ambassador noted that the main purposes of this program are the political opinion, the attempt to escape from borders, the efforts to bring the peace, stability and prosperity to the region: â€œThis program considers the signing of associative agreements with every country. The associative agreement is a deep cooperation form with the European Union, the highest form from this agreement is the admission to the European Unionâ€™s membership. The â€œEastern Partnershipâ€ Program and associative agreement consider the simplification of visa regime, and it will give a chance to intensify the relations between people. The first meeting of new structure â€“ â€œEURONESTâ€ member countriesâ€™ Parliamentary Assembly was held within program on May 3.

In his speech, representative of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Alimirzamin Asgarov said that, the Eastern Partnership program increased Azerbaijanâ€™s relations with the EU to the new level. He said that one of the main programs of the program was visa simplification. MFA representative assessed the European Parliaments last resolution on Azerbaijan as follows: â€œThis resolution cause many questions, this is a bilateral and politically motivated documents. This resolution doesnâ€™t respond to the character of Azerbaijanâ€™s relations with the EU. Touching on the victory of Azerbaijani representatives in the â€œEurovision-2011â€ song contest, Asgarov called it a sample of Azerbaijanâ€™s integration to the European Union.

The discussions will continue at the conference on panels â€œdemocracy, stability and management of the bordersâ€, â€œeconomic integration and coordination to the European Unionâ€™s policyâ€, â€œenergy, climatic changes and environmentâ€, â€œrelations between peopleâ€. The employees of EU representation in Azerbaijan, representatives of the MFA, representatives of diplomatic corpses accredited in Azerbaijan will attend the conference.
