The First Lady of Russia congratulates Azerbaijan’s First Lady on the victory of Azerbaijan at Eurovision-2011

During the meeting, Medvedeva congratulated the Mehriban Aliyeva on the victory of Azerbaijan at the Eurovision-2011. She noted that the Azerbaijani duo’s victory demonstrates the high level of musical culture in this country and the growing international interest towards Azerbaijan.

Russian President’s wife also noted the efforts of the Azerbaijani leadership to create favorable conditions for living in the Republic of compatriots who are in Azerbaijan, there are about 130 thousand. She thanked the Azerbaijani side for the opportunity to get in this country of education in Russian. Medvedev and Aliyev also discussed the training of Azerbaijani students in Russia.

During the conversation, Svetlana Medvedeva also mentioned the efforts of the Azerbaijani leadership to create favorable conditions for Russian compatriots living in the country, whose number totals about 130,000 in Azerbaijan.

Medvedeva invited the spouse of the Azerbaijan President to the Assumption Belfry of the Kremlin, where "Carl Faberge and stone-cutting master. Gemstone Treasures of Russia" Exhibition is being conducted. Accompanied by Director General of the Moscow Kremlin State Museum-Reserve, Elena Gagarina, spouses of presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan visited the exhibition, which includes masterpieces by the great Russian jeweler Carl Faberge, his eminent contemporaries, supplying his products to the Imperial Yard, the works by Ural handicraftsmen, the works created at the Emperor, Yekaterinburg, Peterhof and Kolyvan lapidary factories.

In her turn, Mehriban Aliyeva invited the Russian President’s spouse to see the photo-exhibition in the Grand Kremlin Palace, devoted to Azerbaijan, and demonstrated the collection of unique Azerbaijani carpets.

Medvedeva invited the Azerbaijani First Lady to visit Moscow again to attend the 3rd International festival of young performers of classical music "Rising stars in the Kremlin". She expressed hope that the Azerbaijani performers would attend the contest.

Mehriban Aliyeva thanked the Russians who gave their voices for Eurovision-2011 in favor of the Azerbaijani duo. "Thank you Russia for the first 12 points" - the First Lady of Azerbaijan said.

She reported that on October of this year together with Russia, Azerbaijan plans to hold an Baku International Humanitarian Forum and promised that her country would continue to study and preserve the rich Russian culture.

Mehriban Aliyeva said that along with the achievements, the biggest of Azerbaijan, Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh problem is remaining unsolved. "We hope that it will find an early settlement in the framework of international law”, - said the First Lady of Azerbaijan.
