Ali Akhmadov: “It seems some forces in the European Parliament pursue an aim to spoil Azerbaijan’s expanding cooperation with the European Unionâ€
However, he regretfully noted that a number of organizations, which have kind intentions in setting up cooperation with Azerbaijan, distort country’s realities, draw up preconceived reports and adopt tendentious resolutions: “The recent resolution on Azerbaijan adopted in EP session belongs to this category.†A. Akhmadov said that all this casts a shadow on cooperation between Azerbaijan the EU: “Any cooperation obliges each party. Azerbaijan conscientiously treats with its obligations. However, the EU, which cooperates with Azerbaijan on elimination of the aggression, has not a seriously helped, apart from some declarative statements. There is no any activity of the European institutions on restoration of one million Azerbaijanis’ rights, whose living rights have been violated. Notwithstanding, the negotiations on associative agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU go on, it generally provides for cooperation in the field of security.â€
According to NAP Deputy Chairman, Azerbaijan views the cooperation with the EU through a prism of broad plan and long-term perspectives: “However, unwholesome critics of some forces in the European parliament cast a shadow on the kind intention of the cooperation by efforts to find something that doesn’t exist, they enforce Azerbaijan to reconsider the future fate of the cooperation. In the atmosphere of biased opinion and unfounded accusations it causes to serious questions about continuation of the successful cooperation. Under such conditions, for example, is it possible to continue the negotiations on associative agreement that provides for cooperation on security issues, or is there a need for it? I think, some actions of the EP deputies enforce Azerbaijan to reconsider the abovementioned project, as well as other projects, because any cooperation refers to mutual trust and respect. I believe, the EP will reconsider its biased attitude toward Azerbaijan, both parties will respect the future cooperation, thereby EP will help the EU and Azerbaijan to realize their partnership intentions without hindrances.â€
