Department chief of Presidential Administration: The Armenian side has recently given preference to political maneuvers

If we pay attention to the recent negotiations, we will see that at first Armenia gives some promises, then changes its position under some pretext. Such a behavior has turned into the policy of the Armenian leadership,” chief of Presidential Administration’s department of foreign relations Novruz Mammadov told APA while answering the question about the current state of the Karabakh negotiations.

The department chief said it is still early to say a concrete word about the next meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents.
“Maybe such a meeting will be held in the coming months. Now what troubles me is that the Armenian side has recently given preference to political maneuvers. They give a promise and forget it after three or four months. I have recently observed it in the statements of Armenian president and other officials. There is another point here, this is the approach of the West to the issue. If the West indeed wants to prove its unbiased position, then it should demonstrate fair position. The world knows that seven regions of Azerbaijan have been occupied and no Azerbaijani is living there. But no state puts forward a concrete demand. If they had demonstrated fair position here, one would have listened to their claims. But unfortunately, I can not say this. Aggressors receive aid, moral, financial, political etc. Some want to rule the world at command. I think one must simply be just,” he said.

Novruz Mammadov underlined that the European Parliament also has double-standard approach to Azerbaijan.
“Release of such a biased and unfair document prior to the visit of the President of the European Parliament to the region, including Azerbaijan, can not have a positive influence on our relations. The European Parliament has about 700 members. This document has been prepared on the initiative of a 20-man faction mainly representing the Green Group. This causes regret. Such an attitude towards Azerbaijan can be regarded only as double-standard approach. Those who back this resolution accuse us of being undemocratic. But there are such European countries, where the opposition’s demonstrations are dispersed, journalists are imprisoned. They accuse us, but keep silence when it comes to the situation in their countries. Such an approach can not have a positive influence on the European Union – Azerbaijan cooperation. We want to see fair and sincere position. But questions arise when we see biased position. Azerbaijan is developing, but it seems that some do not like it. This biased and double-standard approach is sourced from this. But this is a quite wrong approach,” he said.
