Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issues alert to avoid travels to Libya

The warning placed on the ministry’s website said that according to the UN Security Council resolution 1973 adopted on March 17, 2011, international coalition forces have begun military operations in Libya since March 19, 2011. The operations are conducted around the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, Zintan, Ajdabiya, Breqa, Sabha, Sirte and Misurata. The conflict zones in Libya can be changed anytime.

The Azerbaijani citizens planning to travel to Libya are recommended to postpone their travels if it is not so important. The Azerbaijani citizens living, working and permanently residing in Libya are recommended to avoid involving in the unrests, to observe the rules established in the country and to address the Azerbaijani embassy in Tripoli for solving any problem they face.

The ministry also recommended the Azerbaijani citizens living, working and permanently residing abroad to contact the embassies and consulates of Azerbaijan during the emergency and other dangerous situations and to be registered at the consulates on their arrival and departure.
